Workshop to Strengthen Counselling Skills Among Academic Counsellors

A full-day training workshop was conducted on 11 November 2022 at the MBA Hall, University of Kelaniya, organized by Kalana Mithuru Sevena under the direction of Dr. (Ms) Anusha Salwathura, Director of the Centre.

The session was facilitated by Senior Counsellor Mr. Prasanna Kamalsiri Perera and aimed to enhance the practical counselling skills of Academic Counsellors attached to Kalana Mithuru Sevena and Assistant Student Counsellors of the University.

Key focus areas included understanding the counselling process, identifying the role of an effective counsellor, learning basic counselling techniques, role-playing counselling situations, and handling serious cases. Participants also engaged in an interactive Q&A session, fostering deeper insights into practical counselling practices within the university setting.
