Certificate Awarding and Inauguration Ceremony for Peer Counsellors Held at University of Kelaniya

The Kalana Mithuru Sevana unit of the University of Kelaniya organized a Certificate Awarding Ceremony for Peer Counsellors – Batch 01 and the Inauguration Ceremony for Batch 02 on 25 August 2023 at the Faculty Auditorium, Faculty of Social Sciences. The event commenced at 10:00 a.m. and was coordinated by Mr. Ruwan Buddhika, Lecturer and member of Kalana Mithuru Sevana.

The ceremony was graced by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya and Professor (Mrs) M. Hettiarachchi, with the participation of Deans of Faculties, Directors, Counsellors, lecturers, and students.

This initiative aimed to promote peer counselling practices among university students and address mental health challenges through structured training. The program aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 3 – Good Health and Well-being and SDG 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, reinforcing the University’s commitment to fostering a supportive and mentally healthy campus environment.
